NAMI News: January 2020

Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope you enjoyed healthy, happy holidays and that you are enjoying the beginning of the new decade.  We have hit the ground running with Henry Herrera coordinating two new Family to Family classes which will begin soon. And Lynda Cohen reports that Ending the Silence for High School students is starting up after the holidays in three schools.  The 11th Sheriff’s CIT Academy will start on February 3rd and KCBX will be recording part of the NAMI SLOCO presentation!

Harvey and Melanie Billig are continuing to work hard on financing the Behavioral Health Hospital in Templeton.  This part is taking longer than they thought it would, but they are confident that they will be successful, and they thank you for supporting their efforts over the past few years.

Don’t miss T-HMA’s Journey of Hope next month.  It is always a heartwarming event and be sure to visit the resource fair while you are there. NAMI SLOCO will be participating with a booth.

Christine Pirucelli from the Mental Health Evaluation Team will be speaking at our January 28th General Meeting. She will also cover the success of the Crisis Stabilization Unit since she oversees both of these programs.  Join us for potluck before the program at 6:45 P.M. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in San Luis Obispo.

Please call me at 805-543-1825 if you need any information or would like to take a more active role in NAMI SLOCO.  We are always looking for more motivated people to join our leadership team.

Warm regards,

Pam Zweifel
